About DeFlock Indiana
Welcome to DeFlock Indiana — your resource for understanding and confronting the rapid spread of Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs) across the Hoosier State.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple: to shine a light on the widespread use of ALPR technology in Indiana, raise awareness about the threats it poses to personal privacy and civil liberties, and empower Hoosiers to take action. ALPRs are increasingly deployed by law enforcement and private companies without the public’s full understanding or consent — collecting vast amounts of data on our movements, often with little or no oversight.
Why This Matters
Privacy is a fundamental right, and the growing use of ALPRs threatens to erode it. Every day, these cameras capture and store details about the movements of millions of innocent people, building a massive database that can be used for anything from routine surveillance to far more troubling purposes. This constant monitoring can chill the freedoms we hold dear — like attending a protest or speaking out — and that should concern every Hoosier.
